Special wood type
Whaaw, I didn't think the logs would be so gigantic! -- a neighbour
Unlike most ordinary loghomes, this house is build with Pinus Sylvestrus (Pine tree, Kiefern), a harder, more resistant wood. Some of the trees are older then 250 years! The trees were all hand picked by the forester a few years ago, during a full moon phase in winter. This is the most optimal time to cut trees since they contain almost no fluids then (because of the tides). The logs were then given 1 year time to dry, without putting them in an oven. This all makes these big treelogs last a very long time, they will not crack and all this without any chemical treatment. This house can easily stand a few hundred years!

The average log is between 50 and 80 cm diameter, which is exceptionally large for a loghome.
